ZIP-code market intelligence for mental health clinicians: payer mix, provider landscape, rates, and hidden incentives.
Area Insights turns public healthcare datasets into a ZIP-code level market read for behavioral health clinicians: who lives in an area, how they are insured, how many providers already serve them, and which federal incentives apply. It is free and requires no signup. Enter a ZIP code above to see your market.
Three public sources. Demographics and insurance coverage come from the United States Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates. Provider counts come from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), the federal registry of healthcare providers. Shortage designations come from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
A Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) is a federal designation for areas with too few mental health providers for the population. Practicing in one can qualify clinicians for a 10% Medicare bonus and loan repayment programs of up to $50,000, and most clinicians never apply. Area Insights flags whether a ZIP code carries a designation, and whether it is confirmed at the ZIP level or possible at the county level.
Census figures come from the most recent American Community Survey 5-year release. Provider and shortage data come from the latest published NPPES and HRSA files.
Area Insights is built by Aria, the practice automation platform for behavioral health group practices. If the market looks good, book a 15-minute call and we will show you what running billing on automation looks like.
